Besides spending your recovery in great places like Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos, these services are provided at a fraction of the cost of analogous surgeries in the United States. Many insurance companies will not cover elective surgery, which means the entire cost, from admission to follow-ups, must be paid out of pocket. Due to several factors, the cost of surgery in Mexico is lower than that in the United States. First, medical education is federally subsidized, so doctors in Mexico do not begin their practice with significant debt (the average graduating medical student in the United States owes over $120,000). Second, the cost of malpractice insurance is much lower. A lot of other factors also contribute, including, but not exclusive to, reduced pharmaceutical overhead, less waste in the operating room and lower average wages for hospital personnel. The result is that we are able to offer surgeries at 30% - 50% of the cost of the same surgery in the United States. All of our surgical equipment has been imported from the United States, as well as the implant hardware in the case of joint arthroplasty.
